The monument will be raised in the very spot where Benny last sang in 1962 during the carnival of the city in the province of Granma, a few months before he died in Havana. The two-meter-high bronze statue will be a tribute to the "Sonero Mayor," who in the song dedicated to this bay depicted the beauty of its coast.
