Polo Montañez Group's Album to be Ready by Late 2003
09/19/2003 08:01PM
Contributed by: ARomero

New CDs(Prensa Latina- Cumbancha) Pinar del Rio, Cuba - Cuestión de Suerte, album recorded in Colombia by the musicians who always accompanied Polo Montañez, will fulfill the late artist's dream of making an album where the violin sounds in the foreground. The album includes 11 songs; six of them chosen from the vast unreleased work by the mythical singer-songwriter, while the rest include songs by his son Yunior Borrego and Amaury Romero Borrego, his nephew and director of the band named after Polo, from which both are members. Just recorded at the ABS studios of Barranquilla, Colombia, by AF Espectáculos Productions Company, Cuestión de Suerte will be ready for release in November in Colombia.

Troubadour songs and "sons" recreate the voice of young Yoslier Charboniel, almost identical to Polo's, in this album where the violin of Silvio Manuel Duquesne rules, alternating with the National Symphony Orchestra and the group. For Raúl Lamas, representative of the band, it is the first experience of recording without the physical presence of the great figure of Polo, but the respect to his authenticity and to his melodies is evident, in a very convincing production, according to experts.
