Contributed by: ARomero

General News(Prensa Latina - Cumbancha) Havana, Cuba - Los Papines, Cuban rumba virtuosos who won a Grammy for the album La rumba soy yo (I am Rumba), are celebrating -on December 10- their 40th anniversary of an intense artistic career that has taken them and their congas all over the world. Ricardo, Luis, Jesús, Juliet and Luisito Abréu will celebrate the anniversary with a gala concert titled "A rumba limpia - 40 años de tambores," (Just plain Rumba - 40 Years of Congas) at Havana's Mella Theater, with Jenny and Robertón (Los Van Van), César Pedroso and Pepito (Puppy y los que Son Son), Charanga Habanera and Cubanitos 20-02 as guest musicians.

The tribute will also include the presentation of an anthology titled Los Papines, en compañía de... (Los Papines, with…) produced by the famous Cuban label EGREM -incubator for the Buena Vista Social Club project. Since 1955, Ricardo, Luis Alfredo and Jesús Abréu were applauded as percussionists when they worked at the Tropicana Cabaret. In 1957 they formed the group Papín y sus rumberos (Papin and his rumba musicians) which later became Los Papines.
