01/03/2004 03:31PM
Contributed by: ARomero

Events(Prensa Latina - Cumbancha) Havana, Cuba - The Havana municipality of Bejucal hosted the 4th Workshop on Rumba and Conga Charanguera, which was aimed at rescuing and spreading the most genuine values of those genres of Cuban popular music. Renowned researchers participated in the meeting, as well as some of the most genuine players of those genres, including Tata Güines and Roberto Pérez (Yeyo), director of the legendary group Tambores de Bejucal. Participants were especially interested in a lecture given by musicologist Elio Orovio about the origin, development and influence of Rumba in Cuban music.
