Focus on North Africa/Southern Mediterranean

Every year, WOMEX has a focus and all program proposals with a focus connection are particularly welcome. In 2004 the caravan will travel the North of Africa or Southern Mediterranean, depending on the perspective of the viewer. In a period where many forces are at work to destroy bridges between cultures, WOMEX focuses on the positive aspects of the power-wheel
between the Orient, Africa and Europe, a region conditioned by cultural interplay for a long time. The multitude of roots and blossoms of regional music from the Red Sea in the East to the Atlantic Ocean in the West should be reflected in all expo features, that is Award, Showcases, Conference Sessions, Film Screenings, umbrella stands, networking meetings and others.
