José Menese and the Golden Age
10/01/2004 07:39AM
Contributed by: ARomero

General NewsMadrid, Spain - Boa Music has just recorded the grand show of the great flamenco singer José Menese to be called A mis soledades voy, de mis soledades Vengo (To my solitude I go, from my solitude I return), which took place in the Maestranza de Sevilla Theatre. This is the first and exclusive recording of the show, which will come out on DVD and CD in October.

Each musical piece is based on the poetic texts of the Spanish Golden Age. The show is being performed in some of the most important theatres of Spain and with some great success. The texts used are taken from some of the most important Golden Age writers. These include Góngora, Lope de Vega, Ruiz de Alarcón, Fray Luís de León, Calderón de la Barca, Tirso de Molina and Miguel de Cervantes. There is also mystic poetry written by Santa Teresa de Jesús, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and San Juan de la Cruz. These pieces are the body and soul of the performance and album.
