New CDs(Prensa Latina) Havana, Cuba - An experimentalist of Prince, Brian Eno and David Byrne-caliber, Equis Alfonso, Grammy nominee in 2002 for the album X Moré, released his latest album Civilización.

"This album is a tribute to the music from different Cuban regions, street music," Alfonso stated for Prensa Latina "as usual, very experimental, for everyone, in no way oriented to an specific generational or sex group."

Havana's International Press Center was the venue for the presentation November 8, scheduling a press conference of the integral musician, son of the founders of the band Sintesis, the Cuban premier afro-rock band, Grammy nominee in 2002 for Habana a flor de piel.

"I chose the title Civilizacion because I wanted to present music and ideas regarding that sacred word, and since I did not feel capable to achieving the dimension of what I was pursuing, I requested the help of some friends, musicians such as Carlos Varela, Free Hole Negro, Sergio Cardoso and other".

The 12-track album fuses Cuban popular music elements with rock sounds, but to the style of X Alfonso, which could be placed within the genre equivocally called World Music.

Meanwhile, this is the fourth album of the excellent pianist, anteceded by Mundo real (1999), X Moré (2001) and Delirium Tremens (2002), the latter winner of the best soundtrack at the Cubadisco Fair 2003.

As part of the conference, the video clip "Habana (8:00 pm)," showing X Alfonso's video artist´s side, was presented. This is the video for the namesake song included in Civilizacion, nominated for the Lucas Award, the Cuban variant to the Music Video Awards.
