Porto Musical 2005, International Music and Technology Conference Launched at WOMEX

Recife, Brazil - Porto Musical 2005, an international Conference for Music and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) will take place in Recife (Brazil), January 30 - February 2, Feb 2005 . The event was launched successfully during WOMEX by director Christoph Borkowsky Akbar, local promoter and producer Paulo André Pires of Astronave,  and Porto Digital president Pier Carlo Sola. You can now submit conference session and showcase proposals for the event until November 19 by e-mail only to portomusical@womex.com.

Porto Musical is the first WOMEX outreach special, a pilot networking platform to create in-depth know-how transfer and multiply relations  (in-)between the Brazilian and the international music communities as well as between musical and digital initiatives and enterprises. The event will take place in the historical port area of the Bairro do Recife Antigo and will happen just before the famous local Carnaval.

How to Submit a Conference Proposal


If you are interested in submitting a Conference Session Proposal, e-mail the organizers a proposed (1) session title, (2) session sub-title (3) preferred session format (4) session abstract (100-150 words) and (5) bio (50 words). Porto Musical notes that they prefer the "one-speaker-one-case" type of session, with max. one guest speaker - subject to agreement. The
normal conference session length will be 45, in some cases 90 minutes. Porto Musical will accept up to 3 different proposals per party. There will be the additional possibility to make also a 15 minute presentation of the speaker's work, project, company or institution.

How to Submit a Showcase Proposal

If you are interested in submitting a Showcase Proposal,  e-mail the organizers the following information (1) name of artist, (2) number of artists, (3) number of additional crew members, (4) line-up (without names), (5) country of origin, (6) based in, (7) website of artist, (8) file under (style), (9) PR-Info (short: 1 sentence), (10) PR-Info (long: 100-150 words), (11) last record release, (12) label contact, (13) booking contact, (14) stage-plan + technical rider, (15) electronic press-kit
including text info, live reviews, discography, sounds, photos and video (if available). In case of invitation the organizers can take care of the local performance costs like accommodation & catering, venue, technical equipment, copyright collecting society and PR. Fees and travel expenses have to be covered by the artist and their partners.
