Havana, Cuba - The youngest orchestra in Cuba -in case of doubt, its average age
is 20 years old- Los Angeles de La Habana, presented its debut album in
Havana Thursday.
Including themes fusing such dissimilar rhythms such as son, rap and
Gregorian chants, the album is titled De aquí pa'l cielo (From Here to
Heaven).
The 12-track record, aimed to the adolescent audience, invites to dance as
well as to reflect, the band leader Dairan Perdomo stated to Prensa Latina.
Produced by state-run Musical Recording and Publishing Company (EGREM), the
new record also inserts other genres such as ballad, cumbia, bolero and
salsa in songs mostly composed by pianist and arranger Rembert Morera.
Local recording market leader, the EGREM will finish a period of celebration
for its 40th anniversary with a show December 11 in Havana's National
Theater.
For the occasion, four of the most outstanding bands signed will perform:
Pupy y los que Son, Son; Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco; Moneda Dura, and the
duo Buena Fe.
The eldest and biggest recording company in Cuba, with more than 530 albums
on its catalog, includes album production, promotion and commercialization,
license of master and the production of specialized publications in Cuban
music on its entrepreneurial mission.
