Storyteller and poet Adora Dupree-Awoyomi died on January 8, 2004. An actress, director, writer, ordained minister, and storyteller, Adora came to storytelling from her family's spoken-word traditions.
She was a well-known teacher and performer throughout the South, a member of the Network of Cultural Centers of Color, and on the Alternate Roots touring roster. Adora attended the Folk Alliance conference in Nashville where she led a workshop on storytelling.
