(Prensa Latina) New York City, USA - Cuban singer Omara Portuondo, internationally known
as the Buena Vista Social Club diva, was nominated for a Grammy 2005 for her
album Flor de amor, in the best traditional tropical Latin album category.
Released by World Circuit/Discos Corason, this is her second solo album,
including 14 tracks ranging from ballads to a wide variety of styles.
Produced by British "King Midas" Nick Gold, it includes a select group of Cuban
musicians, with Manuel Galbán in rhythm guitar, Irakere guitarist Jorge Chicoy
playing the acoustic and electric guitars, and a deluxe percussion section
featuring Miguel Anga Diaz.
Flor de amor is tinted of Brazilian and African influences. The experts
highlighted the female vocal harmonies which recall Portuondo´s work while she
was member of an excellent vocal quartet: Las D'Aida.
