Nevada City, California, USA – Culburnie Records has released
Legacy Of The Scottish Fiddle, Volume 2, Tunes from the Life & Land of Robert
Burns. The fiddle tunes of 18th century Edinburgh inspired the songs of
Scotland’s renowned poet Robert Burns. It includes jigs, airs, marches, reels
and strathpeys; tunes that Robert Burns used to flirt, dance, sob and sing.
This long-awaited second CD in
Alasdair Fraser’s Legacy Of The Scottish Fiddle series includes such
favorites as "A Man’s a Man," "Scots Wha Hae," "Killiekrankie," and "Ca' the
Ewes," reflecting the legacy of Robert Burns and many others who gave their
songs and melodies, based in tradition, yet imbued with their own spirits, and
the spirit of their times.
Alasdair Fraser is joined by Scottish dance pianist Muriel Johnstone, and
cellist Natalie Haas, who is reviving the cello’s historic role at the rhythmic
heart of Scottish fiddle music.
