CD ReviewsIrshad Khan and Anindo Chatterjee

Fire, Grace, Passion (New Dawn Productions, 2004)

Ustad Irshad Khan, a master of the sitar (and the bass sitar, surbahar) and Pandit Irshad Khan collaborate on this recording of classical Indian music. Irshad Khan has recorded fusion works in the recent past, but on Fire, Grace, Passion he returns to his musical roots.

The album includes three pieces, Raag [Raga] Malkauns (Fire), Raag [Raga] Nand (Grace) and Sindhi Bhairvee (Passion). The outstanding musical performances were recorded in Rochester (New York) in 2003, and they recreate the effect of a live concert.
