Miami, Florida, USA - Afro-Cuban rappers, Orishas, have a third album. El Kilo (Universal/Surco) was recorded between Liege, Madrid and Paris. This Cuban trio, which is based in Europe has been nominated for the Latin Grammy (LARAS), the Grammy (NARAS), as well as the Source Awards, for previous albums.

Produced by Andres Levin (Macy Gray, Aterciopelados, Los Amigos Invisibles, Yerba Buena...) and sharing production responsibilities with habitual producer and friend of Orishas, Niko Noki, this long awaited new release registers the group's hybrid exploration of hip hop and Cuban son.

The album closes with a track titled "Quien te dijo", featuring Pit Bull, the Cuban-American rapper who just released his new album M.I.A.M.I. (Money Is A Major Issue).

Mixed in Brussels by Tim Lathan (Fun Lovin' Criminals, Erykah Badu, De La Soul) and mastered by Tom Coine at Sterling Sound, El Kilo invents a future with two r's: one for roots (rumba, montuno, guaguanco) and one for rap (the language of the streets of Madrid, Paris, Brussels, Miami and Havana).

Following the success of A Lo Cubano (2000) and Emigrante (2002), Yotuel, Roldan and Ruzzo have in 'El Kilo' the best foundation for their definitive consecration. As their song says, "Nobody can take away the grace of those born with it".
