CD ReviewsTrébede

De chanza y fiesta (CLCD 199, 2003)

This vocal group is based in the province of Sevilla in Andalusia (southern Spain). While Andalusia is world renowned for being the cradle of Flamenco, it also includes a rich variety of folk music that is not part of the Flamenco tradition. Trébede compiles and reworks traditional songs and dances primarily from the Andalusian oral tradition.

The songs researched by Trébede include romances, Sephardic songs, coplas, and ánimas (Christian songs). The accompaniment is not very elaborate: guitars and percussion. The CD booklet includes lyrics and sheet music.
