San Francisco, California, USA - Six Degrees Records is releasing the newest album by Cheb i Sabbah entitled La Kahena and aptly sub-titled Les Voix du Maghreb, on May 10, 2005. CD release parties are in the process of being planned around the country beginning with those at the Blue Cube in San Francisco on Saturday, May 14 and at the Temple Bar in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 21.

For La Kahena, Algerian born Cheb i Sabbah returned to the roots of his native North Africa where he gathered some of the most distinctive female singers from the Maghreb in a studio in Morocco. With tracks by vocalists from many different traditions of North Africa, La Kahena illustrates the diversity of this region. Sabbah then added his own "dj Science" or modern aural magic to these performances, making La Kahena a truly ground-breaking project the likes of which only the artistic vision of Cheb i Sabbah could have created.

Cheb i Sabbah is a world renowned artist, composer and producer perhaps best known for his South Asian trilogy Shri Durga, Maha Maya: Shri Durga Remixed and Krishna Lila. His latest mix CD, As Far As: A DJ Mix, showcased his signature blend of the music from the Arab World, Africa and Asia which Sabbah features in his live dj sets all over the world. Cheb i Sabbah's heartfelt, spiritual approach to bringing music to the dance floor has established him as a highly respected international music dj and an influential pioneer of the underground.
