CD ReviewsJosé Conde y Ola Fresca

Ay! Que Rico (Pikiki Records, 2004)

Cuban American composer and multi-instrumentalists José Conde explores the rich legacy of Cuban music on Ay! Que Rico. He prefers the rootsier sounds of tropical music, including son, changüí, mambo, cha cha chá, and guaracha. As a modern Miamian, Conde also uses the latest techniques in dance music. He utilizes loops and remixes, as well as jazz phrasings.

José Conde's multinational band, Ola Fresca, features brilliant musicians from Cuba, the US, Curaçao and Israel.

This a refreshing album by one of the the finest artists in the US Tropical Latin music scene. Highly recommended.

[Buy Ay! Que Rico].
