CD ReviewsJessie Márquez

Sana Locura (independent, 2004)

Puerto Rican singer Jessie Márquez is a well known Latin music performer in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Recently, she started to get national recognition with her album Sana Locura (Healthy Madness).

Márquez has Cuban family roots and she decided that the best way to research her roots was for her to go to Cuba. There, she recorded her new album with local musicians. The result is a colorful set of songs that include a wide assortment of styles, such as son, guajira, nueva trova, and rumba.
