The smooth operations of MerleFest 2005, the 18th annual festival in celebration of the music of the late Merle Watson and his father Doc Watson at Wilkes Community College, resulted from a coordinated team approach to managing the event, according to WCC Dean of Development B. Townes, who serves as Interim Festival Director. “I want to take this opportunity publicly to congratulate and thank the Development staff and other key Wilkes Community College employees who served as the lead for demonstrating exceptional team work in producing MerleFest 2005. By using teams that parallel each component of MerleFest, we have achieved greatly enhanced communications and collective problem solving. Additionally, we are fortunate to have the support of thousands of volunteers, clubs, and organization who work tirelessly before, during, and after the event.”
