  Berlin, Germany - Rock star Robert Plant, of Led Zeppelin fame,
will be headlining the opening celebration of
WOMEX 2005. The British musician is known for his interest in world and
especially West African music. He will perform with The Strange Sensation on
Wednesday 26 October 2005. Later during WOMEX he will participate as conference
speaker, detailing a rock musician's way into world music.
Robert Plant is a rock singer most famous for being the lead singer of one of
the most influential rock bands of all time,
Led
Zeppelin. He is known for his powerful style with a wide vocal range that
embodies folk/blues passion at its finest. Since the late 1960s, the members of
Led Zeppelin showed an interest in African and Arabic music.
