  Berlin, Germany - The Worldwide Music Expo,WOMEX,
will be presenting more world music films at its annual conference. WOMEX
is the largest international gathering for world music professionals. It is a
great networking point exclusively dedicated to world, roots, folk, ethnic,
traditional and local music of all kinds.
Film Screenings:
“Africa Live”
A 120 minute performance documentary of a major music event which took place in
Dakar, Senegal in March 2005 in aid of 'Roll Back Malaria'. A spectacular
concert of incredible African music, staged by Africans, for the enjoyment of
Africans.

”Link TV's Best Video Finds of 2005”
For this upcoming WOMEX Link TV will screen their best World Music video finds
of 2005. The selections will be based on creativity, from the whimsical low
budget of Di Grine Kuzine's “Berlin” to the broodingly lush and more costly “Con
Todo Palabra” by Lhasa (Mexico/Canada). Unusual fusions with tradition are
demonstrated both visually and musically in “Malademna” by Shukar Collective
(Romania) and “Lifuala Ndonga” by Congotronics/Konono. Animation will be
represented by Steve Harper's remarkable interpretation of Hungarian band
Eletfa's music and Lula Queiroga's indictment of Brazil's hired killers. Other
outstanding videos will be added.

”Troubadours of Allah”
With a dogmatic and fundamentalist view of Muslims increasingly predominant in
the Western media, there has never been a more important time to show an
alternative view of Islam. Sufism is the mystical dimension of Islam that
preaches peace, tolerance and pluralism. And it encourages music, which is seen
as a way of getting closer to God. Sufi music is literally some of the most
ecstatic in the world.
This documentary by Simon Broughton looks at Sufism and its music in different
part of the Islamic world - Syria, Turkey, Pakistan and Morocco. It follows the
development of Sufism, reveals the views and beliefs of devotees, examines the
growing threat from fundamentalist Islam and includes fantastic performances
from some of the greatest Sufi musicians.
