CD ReviewsIrish Dew

Sance (Indies Records, 2005)

Despite the name, this Celtic band is from the Czech Republic. Inspired by the music of the Emerald Isle, Irish Dew performs traditional and original music with contemporary Celtic arrangements. The group is led by virtuoso musician Václav Vesely, who plays accordion and guitars.

Irish Dew uses Irish instruments such as bodrhán, tin whistle, harp, and banjo. But not all the influences are Irish. Irish Dew features several African musicians on kora and jembe.

[The CD is available from Indies Records].
