Daby Touré
Diam (Realworld, 2004)
Mauritania is a crossroads of cultures. It connects the Arabic traditions of
North Africa (Magreb) with the sounds of the Sahara and sub-Saharan West Africa.
That is why the captivating warm African sounds of
Daby
Touré resemble the better known music of Senegal, Mauritania’s southern
neighbor.
After disbanding the popular band Toure Toure, Daby worked on a solo album for many years. Diam is the inspired result of his collaboration with electronic musician and digital wizard Cyrille Dufay.
