  Chico (California), USA - The Chico World Music Festival will be featuring the Pat Metheny Trio (& Quartet)
and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra plus free daytime performers, an art display by
Chico Unified students, art classes by Chico Art Center instructors, children's
crafts by the Museum of Anthropology, COBA Art Voting, artisans, and food
booths. The festival will be held on September 16, 17, & 18, 2005, at Chico State - Kendall Hall Lawns & Laxson Auditorium.
On Sept. 17 & 18 the daytime performances on Kendall Hall lawns
featuring performers on three stages and much more are free and open to the
public, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Tickets to the Friday evening performance featuring Pat Metheny Trio (& Quartet)
are $20-$35, and tickets to the Saturday evening performance featuring the
Spanish Harlem Orchestra are $14-$23. Tickets are available at the University
Box Office at the corner of 2nd and Normal Streets, or by calling 898-6333.
What makes this festival unique is that the daytime performances are free on
September Saturday 17th, & Sunday 18th from 11 am - 5 pm. This includes 12

Along with free performances, the Chico World Music Festival daytime activities
feature:
1. Lectures and workshops by the artists,
2. Artisans and food booths,
3. Free art classes hosted by the Chico Art Center,
4. The CSU, Museum of Anthropology hosting a children's crafts workshop,
5. COBA art project voting,
6. A display of student art from the Chico Unified School District,
7. And plenty of lush green grass for relaxation and plenty of fun.

Friday night - September 16:
Opening this year's Chico World Music Festival on Friday night in Laxson will be
the Pat Metheny Trio (& Quartet). The incomparable Pat Metheny has garnered
countless "Best Jazz Guitarist" awards and multiple Grammys.
Known for stretching musical boundaries, Metheny's modern improvisational style
and pioneering use of sound technology have redefined the jazz guitar. Along
with acclaimed bassist Christian McBride and the impressive Antonio Sanchez on
drums, Metheny's trio pushes the musical envelope in this evening of acoustic
jazz. When performing as a Quartet, the Trio will be joined by special added

Saturday night - September 17:
 For the 2nd evening performance of the Chico World Music Festival, the Chico
World Music Festival will host the
Spanish Harlem Orchestra.
Fresh off their 2004 Grammy win for "Best Salsa/Merengue Album," the Spanish
Harlem Orchestra has also just been nominated for "Best Salsa Album of the Year" at the 2005 Latin Grammy's.
Tickets are required for this performance in Laxson Auditorium, range from $14-
$23 and are available at the University Box Office 898-6333.
