Young Vallenato Star Dies in Car Crash

ObituariesValledupar, Colombia – Vallenato singer-songwriter Kaleth Moral Troya died August 24 in a car crash. The death of the popular musician caused consternation in Colombia and thousands attended the funeral.

Kaleth Miguel Moral Troya was born June 9 of 1984 in Valledupar, Colombia. At 19 he recorded his first single titled "Voy a atraparte" (I am going to catch you) alongside the accordionist Manuel Julián.

Many of his songs became hits, performed by other artists: “Novios cruzados” recorded by Los Diablitos; “No aguanta” by Luifer Cuello; “No seré tu payaso” by Los Gigantes del Vallenato (The Giants of the vallenato); “Mi reina consentida” (My Spoiled Queen) performed by his father Miguel Morales; and “Me la juego toda” recorded by Silvestre Dangond.
