  Orange (Texas), USA - Award-winning guitarist, fiddler and
singer
Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown died Saturday, September 10, in his hometown of
Orange (Texas). Gatemouth Brown was known for his dynamic gumbo of Blues,
Zydeco, Country, and Jazz. He had been suffering from lung cancer, emphysema and
heart disease. Gatemouth Brown was 81.
A few days earlier, Gatemouth Brown and his family evacuated the Slidell area
(near New Orleans) shortly before Hurricane Katrina made landfall and made it
safely to his hometown of Orange, Texas. However, due to hurricane damage,
Gatemouth lost his home and all of his belongings.
 In an effort to raise money to help pay for his relocation to
Austin (Texas), and to help pay for his medical expenses, living expenses, and
the replacement of his instruments, the “Gatemouth Brown’s Disaster Relief Fund”

He is survived by three daughters and a son.
