Sacred Ground, A Tribute to Mother Earth (Silverwave Records SD942, 2005)

Producer Jim Wilson (Robbie Robertson, Walela) has joined forces with some of the top stars of Native American music to create all new recordings of songs that honor Mother Earth.

The album is uneven. There are edgy songs such as "Mountains Song," "Seeking Light," "People of Yesterday," and "Let Us Dance," with tribal singing, captivating vocals, and electronic grooves.

The participants that stand out are Robert Mirabal, Star Nayez with Verdell Primeaux & Johnny Mike, and Joanne Shenandoah. The magic dissipates in the new agey pieces by Bill Miller and Little Wolf Band.

[Buy Sacred Ground].
