Lesley Riddoch on Celtic Music Radio
01/15/2006 06:51PM
Contributed by: WMC_News_Dept.

General NewsGlasgow, Scotland - Feisty broadcaster Lesley Riddoch is back with a live phone-in at 12noon – on pioneering community station Celtic Music Radio. The former BBC SONY award winning presenter will host one hour phone-ins next week (16-20th February) as part of the voluntary effort behind the station aiming to put Celtic Connections gigs and artists on the map across Glasgow and via the internet, across the world.

Lesley Riddoch said, “This is a bold effort to connect a big cultural event with a worldwide audience. The station is broadcasting on 106.6 FM in Glasgow and online at seeglasgow.com so anyone can listen and email anywhere there’s a computer. I go to so many Celtic Connections events – wielding a microphone beforehand will be a great way to warm up! And if we get some argumentative Celtic callers – from Castlemilk or Calgary -- that’s the way I like it!’’

Celtic Music Radio is a community operation with aspirations for a full-time an Ofcom Community Radio Licence to serve a community-of-interest with a broad mix of Scottish traditional and contemporary ‘Celtic’ music and culture. Celtic Music Radio has a studio base in the Exhibition Hall within the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and will be on-air 24 hours-a-day until Monday 30 January.
