48th Annual GRAMMY Award Winners Announced

AwardsSanta Mónica (California), USA - The Recording Academy announced this evening the winners of the Grammy Awards.

The Best Traditional World Music Album went to In the Heart of the Moon by Ali Farka Toure & Toumani Diabate (World Circuit/Nonesuch). [You can read the review of this CD here: The Gentle Heart of Mali].

The winner of Best Contemporary World Music Album is Eletracústico by Gilberto Gil (Warner Music Latina).

Eddie Palmieri won Best Latin Jazz Album with Listen Here! (Concord Picante).

The Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album went to Cuban legend Bebo Valdés with Bebo De Cuba (Calle 54 Records).

Willy Chirino won Best Salsa/Merengue Album (Vocal or Instrumental.) with Son del Alma (Latinum Music) .

Bluegrass singer and multi-instrumentalist Tim O'Brien won the Best Traditional Folk Album category with Fiddler's Green (Sugar Hill Records)

The Best Contemporary Folk Album award went to Fair & Square by John Prine (Oh Boy Records)

Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Vol. 1. 1 won the Best Hawaiian Music Album. Various Artists. Daniel Ho, Paul Konwiser & Wayne Wong, producers (Daniel Ho Creations).
