Tucson (Arizona), USA - The Spanish Harlem Orchestra brings their 13-piece salsa supergroup to Centennial Hall on Tuesday, March 14th. This is their first Arizona appearance, fresh off a win at the 2005 Grammy Awards for Best Salsa Album for their release Across 110th Street, with Ruben Blades. Led by pianist and arranger Oscar Hernandez and an ensemble from the great salsa bands of Tito Puente, Willie Colón and Ruben Blades, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra merges ferocious Afro-Caribbean rhythms, hard-riffing horns, romantic vocals and lyrics that encompass the pleasures of the dance floor with the pride of the barrio.
 
 This band boasts a hefty brass section with two trumpets, two trombones and a baritone sax behind three tireless percussionists. Bass and piano complete the rhythm section while the close harmonies of three singers front the band.

Together they serve true salsa with a dash of rumbas, cha-chas, guaguancós and boleros to create an irresistible hard-driving sound. These seasoned sidemen from the world’s greatest salsa bands bring the New York salsa sound of the 60s and 70s to life with sizzling salsa rhythms, tight vocals and thrillingly inventive percussion.
