Montreal, Canada - Lebanese-born ud master Rabih Abou-Khalil has a new album out, Journey To The Centre Of An Egg, on Justin-Time/Enja, his 11th Enja production and the second to be licensed to Justin Time for North America (following up on the heavily acclaimed Morion's Foot).

Abou-Khalil brings the piano into his unique musical world for the first time on record. Most appropriately, he has chosen the extraordinary German pianist/composer Joachim Kuhn, one of Europe's most accomplished and respected jazz musicians since he arrived on the scene in the early 1960s.

Fully versed in everything from J.S. Bach to Ornette Coleman, and similarly unbound by genre limitations, Kuhn brings a full palette of expressive options to this recording. He also brings his fluent and articulate alto saxophone playing to one track, further expanding upon the interactive potential.

Percussionist Jarrod Cagwin, a longtime collaborator of Rabih, brings his own artistry to the music. Although Rabih and Joachim always seem to be in the spotlight, Cagwin's subtly dynamic and perfectly placed contributions on trap and frame drums make this album a true three-way collaboration. Trap drummer Wolfgang Reisinger joins in on two tracks, seamlessly blending into the mix.

The eight compositions were created jointly by Abou-Khalil and Kuhn and center around two vibrant extended pieces.
