Paris, France - The French group, Gotan Project, released a new CD
Lunatico April 10 in the UK and April 11 in the US, five years
after the world-famous album
La Revancha del Tango sold more than a million albums worldwide.
They will be on a worldwide tour this summer in June and July.
Lunatico
was named after the tango hero Carlos Gardel's champion racehorse from the
1930's. In this album, Gotan Project are celebrating the style of Astor
Piazzolla, in another classic and beautiful tribute to Tango.
To create this special sound, the Parisian Philippe Cohen Solal, Swiss-born
Christoph H. Müller and the Argentinean Eduardo Makaroff first recorded at the
Studio ION, in Buenos Aires where the tango master had himself recorded several
of his elegant pieces. They invited many local musicians; a trombonist, a
complete string section, two MC's and Gustavo Beytelmann, the Argentinean
pianist they have been recording with since their beginning.
Back in Paris, they added electronic atmosphere with the participation of
artists including the percussionist Minino Garay, the vocalist Cristina
Vilallonga and the Argentine bandoneonist, Nini Flores, among others.
The tour, which begins June 10 in Luxembourg and will continue through Europe
through June and July before a stop in Los Angeles in August and a return to
Paris for a final show October 5.
