EventsThe world of WOMAD (World of Music, Arts & Dance) returns to Singapore. The passion and energy of musicians from around the globe will once again explode in the historical Fort Canning Park for a 3-day weekend from August 25 - 27, 2006.

Winner of the “Best Event Experience” at the Singapore Tourism Awards in 2004, WOMAD is a household name for music lovers – a festival that has grown roots as it enters its 9th year in the beautiful island city-state that is Singapore. Last year, WOMAD Singapore was also invited to be the closing weekend event for Celebrate Singapore – a month-long campaign of Uniquely Singapore events and irresistible promotions to celebrate Singapore’s 40th birthday.

True to its commitment to diversity, WOMAD Singapore 2006 will continue to tap into the incredible range of global music experiences; from centuries-old traditions to the pulse of contemporary music. Catch six to eight soul-spinning performances each night that take place on multiple stages. These are complemented by the ever-popular workshops and master classes conducted by WOMAD artists, designed to stimulate and entertain both adults and kids. Further engaging the senses, WOMAD’s Global Village offers up a delectable range of food, craft and holistic treatments that are as rich and diverse as the music on offer.

In addition, WOMAD Club presents another pulsating, global DJ set that is guaranteed to have revelers turning up the intensity of the open-air into the early hours of the morning.

Founded by rock legend Peter Gabriel, the WOMAD festival has entertained audiences in over 27 different countries and islands, presenting an estimated 2,000 international artists at over 150 events for 24 years.
