British folk legend Dick Gaughan has a new recording available on
the Greentrax label.
Lucky for Some (CDTRAX 290) consists of seven of Dick's own powerful songs -
"Lucky For Some", "The Devil and Pastor Jack", "The Hunter Dunne", "Come Gie's a
Sang", "We Got The Rock 'n' Roll", "Different Drum", "Whatever Happened", plus
an instrumental piece, "Dancing With Eagles" - one traditional song, "The
Bleacher Lass 0' Kelvinhaugh"; and "Anna Marie" by Jim Page.
Dick Gaughan is one of the most highly respected folk singers in the United Kingdom. He is also one of the most sought-after artists and commits himself to grueling tours, both in the U.K. and abroad, particularly North America and Australia.
Dick is an honest and committed artist who lists amongst his greatest influences Karl Marx, John Lennon, Hugh MacDiarmid, Jeannie Robertson, Ewan MacColl, Martin Carthy, John MacLean, Hamish Henderson and Robert Burns, to name but a few.
Dick was recognized at the Scots Trad Awards in 2004 when he received the "Scots Singer of The Year" award. He has also had several nominations for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
