Cara Dillon's New CD After The Morning Available in North America

Contributed by: WMC_News_Dept.

New ReleasesNashville (Tennessee), USA - After the Morning, released on Compass Records, finds Dillon on her third collaboration with musical partner Sam Lakeman. Their first outing as a team, Cara Dillon, garnered critical acclaim and was honored with a number of top awards including two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and the Hotpress Award for 'Best Roots Act'. The follow up, Sweet Liberty, also came with its fair share of notoriety as Dillon beat out both Sinead O'Connor and Enya to win as Best Irish Singer at 2004's Irish Meteor Awards.

On After the Morning, Dillon and Lakeman have recorded a collection of songs that reflect and convey their influences and experiences over the last couple of years. Dillon's exquisite singing is more confident and assured and Lakeman's production and arrangements have taken a massive leap forward totally realizing Dillon's expectations: "Our dream is that we've created an album with wide appeal without compromising what we do or where we come from." Famed Irish vocalist Paul Brady makes a special appearance on the achingly beautiful duet, The Streets of Derry, a traditional that finds a woman desperately trying to save her one true love from death at the gallows.

The combination of Dillon's expressive and impressive vocals and Lakeman's instrumental talents and production sensibilities have brought new life to traditional material and have placed Dillon firmly in the forefront of the new wave of young traditional artists emerging onto the mainstream.
