Dancing Turtle Releases West Papuan Benefit Festival CD
11/19/2006 11:31AM
Contributed by: WMC_News_Dept.

General NewsBritish label will release a compilation CD in December, featuring an eclectic mix of acts from over 18 countries, united in their support of the West Papuan independence movement. There is music featured from all corners of the globe, from rustic Malagasy roots, to Brazilian samba jazz, Romanian gypsy beats, ethnic West Papuan sounds and UK folk. All proceeds will be going directly to West Papuan refugees.

The label is also holding another music event next month in Brixton. The night celebrates International Human Rights Day. There will be live African drumming, acoustic sets from Mexican and Brazilian acts, and DJ sets from the global scene: Cliffy (Batmacumba), Icon (Kodojolan), Cesar R (City Soul) and Acevedo (Afrocentric). The celebration will be held December 20th from 8pm-2am at Babalou (formerly Bug Bar). Free entry all night.
