[image1_left]Glasgow, Scotland -  Showcase Scotland is the largest gathering of the international music community in Scotland, and runs for five days during Celtic Connections. Now in its eighth year, Showcase Scotland is organized by Active Events, and was initiated by the Scottish Arts Council and British Council Scotland to provide a platform for promoting Scottish music and artists to new audiences around the world.

This year’s Showcase Scotland will run from Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th January, and will involve around 60 artists performing in 12 venues across Glasgow.

A host of Scottish talent will perform in The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Artists appearing include fiddle-led supergroup Session A9, the dynamic piping duo of Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson, the Fraser Fifield Band, trumpeter Colin Steele's jazz/folk fusion project Stramash, Shetland fiddler Jenna Reid (Scot Trad Awards Newcomer of the Year) and the hot new trio Lau, featuring Aidan O'Rourke, Martin Green and Kris Drever.

Vocal contributors include singer-songwriters Steve Byrne - of Malinky fame, Lewis born songster Iain Morrison, Glasgow's Roddy Hart and Gaelic songstress Julie Fowlis with her exceptional band.

An astonishing array of Scotland's talent on one stage for one night all for an unbelievable ticket price.

Celtic Connections takes place in 12 venues all over Glasgow. The focal point of the festival is The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, where performances take place in every available space, from workshops in the foyers to performances by world-class artists in the Main Auditorium.
