Oisín McAuley

Far From the Hills of Donegal (Compass, 2007)

Fiddler Oisín McAuley is one of the finest fiddlers in the Irish folk music scene. He is well known for his work with Danú.

Far From the Hills of Donegal is his latest solo recording, where McAuley plays a series of duets and other collaborations with other fine musicians who provide guitars, uilleann pipes, accordion, flute and cello.

McAuley has a fiery style that shows his virtuosity. But he also has a delightful melodic side. His style incorporate Irish folk (Donegal style), classical music and jazz.

The selection of pieces ranges from original compositions to traditional Irish jigs, Breton tunes and Quebecois reels.

Buy Far From the Hills of Donegal.
