General NewsScotland - Celtic Connections is delighted to announce that Donald Shaw will stay on as Celtic Connections Artistic Director for another year.

Musician, record producer, composer and founding member of Celtic band Capercaillie , Shaw joined the team of festival organizers last June to develop the artistic elements of the festival, and has decided to remain in this role for Celtic Connections 2008.

Donald Shaw said: “This year’s festival was a huge success, and it was a real privilege to be involved. I’m looking forward to working again with the team of organizers to develop certain elements of the program for next year, and to the fresh challenge of bringing more exciting live acts to Glasgow.”

Louise Mitchell, Director of Glasgow Cultural Enterprises, who run Celtic Connections, said:"I’m delighted that Donald Shaw has agreed to work on Celtic Connections 2008. His wealth of experience and musical curiosity will help us build on the extraordinary success of 2007."

Celtic Connections enjoyed an extremely successful year in 2007, selling out twice as many shows as last year with a 30% increase on ticket sales. It also marked a successful start to a 3-year major sponsorship deal with international energy company ScottishPower.

Celtic Connections 2008 runs from Wednesday 16th January until Sunday 3rd February.
