Angélique Kidjo's New Album Djin Djin in May 2007

New ReleasesParis, France - Inspired by the traditions and culture of her native Benin in West Africa, Angelique Kidjo has recorded Djin Djin, a wink to the sound of the bell that greets the beginning of a new day for Africa.

Similar to Kidjo’s recent works, Djin Djin finds Angelique singing in her native languages as well as in English and French and return to her roots, releasing an album based on the most traditional rhythms of her country. She shares this travel with many guests, giving birth to a real marriage of cultures that has significance far beyond music alone.

Produced by Tony Visconti (David Bowie, Morrissey, T. Rex), guests include Peter Gabriel, Carlos Santana, Ziggy Marley, Amadou & Mariam, Branford Marsalis, Josh Groban, Alicia Keys, and  Joss Stone.

In the course of her successful career Angelique Kidjo has spread her rhythmic Afro-funk fusion to the four corners of the globe. With her fun-loving personality, her on-stage charisma and her totally unique voice, Angélique is certainly one of the most popular artists on the current world scene.

Buy Djin Djin.
