WOMEX's Coveted World Music Showcases Move to Downtown Sevilla

ConferencesBerlin, Germany - The most important international world music conference and showcase, WOMEX, is moving its popular showcases to the city center of Sevilla. With the daytime Conference and Trade Fair at FIBES (Sevilla's international convention center), the night time Showcase Festival will be housed right in the city center at the historic Teatro Lope de Vega. The grand cupola and casino will be the WOMEX delegate headquarters.

The theatre itself will host the acoustic performances - and right there on the same grounds tents will be erected for shows, even a special place for offWOMEX showcases and for DJs. "We are working in partnership with local festival producers to assure the best possible conditions," said a WOMEX spokesperson. "Plus, right there at the Teatro will be a bar and food, just across the road are another two indoor-outdoor bars and restaurants, and then there is the city itself right beside us, with all the tapas and local delicacies you could desire. Along with local wine and beer to ease it along its way..."

The Teatro Lope de Vega is at the hub of one of the busiest crossroads for public transportation, with buses, taxis, all converging in the area. The train from FIBES lets conference participants off a short walk away.
