Events

Manglis Compás Machine will be performing at World Music Saturdays at Colonial club in Madrid on January 12, 2008. For this special occasion, Luis Cobo "Manglis" (guitars) and Nantha Kumar will be joined by three very special guests. On one hand, Pedro Ontiveros (sax & flutes) & Andrés Olaegui (guitars), two muscicians that founded, together with Manglis, the Andalucian rock seminal band Guadalquivir. The third guest is none other than Jorge Pardo (sax & flutes), who spearheaded spanish jazz and was a pioneer in creating jazz connections with flamenco.

The meeting between rock, blues, jazz and other kinds of music led to the beginning of the "rock andaluz" (Andalusian rock), and Manglis is an exceptional example and witness: guitar player with Triana and founder of bands like the mythical Guadalquivir, Arrajatabla with Raimundo Amador, and Manteca, and partner of top flamenco figures such as Camarón. Now he joins forces with Nantha Kumar, a percussionist from Singapore of Indian origin, who has been living in Madrid since 2000, when he arrived attracted by flamenco rhythms. Kumar is a regular collaborator with Chano Domínguez, José Antonio Ramos and Carmen París.

Line-up: Luis Cobo "Manglis" (guitars), Nantha Kumar (Indian tabla and other percussions), and guest artists: Jorge Pardo, Andrés Olaegui & Pedro Ontiveros.

The first 15 people who bring the password "Dame manteca" written down when buying the ticket for the concert will receive Mandala for free. Ticket selling begins at 22:00 h.
