New ReleasesHavana, Cuba - A second volume of “Cuba le canta a Serrat” was presented at the recently concluded 2007 International Cubadisco Trade Show. The series is a tribute from Cuban artists to Spanish singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat.

The new set, composed of 22 songs by the singer-songwriter, features the participation of Cuban musicians Manolito Simonet, Osdalgia, Liuba Maria Hevia, Amaury Perez, X Alfonso, Juan Formell (of Los Van Van salsa band), Adalberto Alvarez and Jose Maria Vitier, among others.

"The project is very beautiful and we will continue developing this idea with Cuban musical quality", said Miguel Angel Sancho, president of Spanish label Discmedi, which produced the recording.

Amaury Perez labeled the musical project an excellent idea, because Serrat is a great friend of Cuba, highly beloved among the population since 1973, when he first performed in Havana.

The first volume of “Cuba canta a Serrat” was nominated to the Latin Grammy Award and brought together singer-songwriters such as Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanés and the late Ibrahim Ferrer and Pio Leyva, from the Buena Vista Social Club project.
