 Afro-Peruvian singer Eva Ayllón has a new DVD recorded live at the Ford Amphitheater in Hollywood, California. Eva Ayllon Live From Hollywood recorded in the summer of 2006 showcases this Peruvian legend in her best musical form and accompanied by a stellar cast that includes compatriots drummer & percussionist Alex Acuña, and guitarist Ramon Stagnaro, Colombian born reedman Justo Almario and Abraham Laboriel from Mexico on bass. This production represents Eva’s second Live video recording becoming the first concert from a Peruvian artist mixed and mastered using surround 5.1 technology.
For over thirty years Eva Ayllón has performed before sold-out theaters not only in Peru, where she can fill stadiums of 30,000, but also in North America as well. After emerging in the early 70s Eva immediately set a landmark by establishing herself as the leading exponent of Afro- Peruvian music. Eva’s recording career spans over 20 albums including a double Latin Grammy nomination in 2003 and a double Platinum album in her native Peru.
The DVD captures Eva’s impeccable performance before a sold-out audience at the Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood California. Among the tracks on Eva’s repertoire are new compositions as well as classics from the Peruvian songbook. Among the highlights is the new arrangement for the Afro Peruvian all-time favorite Toro Mata that besides presenting an exhilarating vocal rendition also demonstrates Eva’s exuberant dance chops that led the LA times to refer to her as the Tina Turner from Peru.
