Guitar Wizard John McLaughlin Begins USA/Canada Tour in North Carolina

Tour AnnouncementsLegendary guitarist John McLaughlin begins his 2007 North American with his new electric group The 4th Dimension on September 13th at the Carolina Theater in Durham, North Carolina. The tour covers sixteen cities, with stops at Monterey Jazz Festival, San Francisco Jazz Festival.
 
 McLaughlin performed with Miles Davis and his own historic bands, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti and The Guitar Trio. His latest project includes drummer and keyboardist Gary Husband , drummer Mark Mondesir and French bassist Hadrien Faraud. The band will be playing pieces from McLaughlin’s Industrial Zen album, in addition to other compositions.

A new DVD recently came out, featuring John McLaughlin and Selvaganesh Vinayakram. Titled The Gateway to Rhythm, the educational video demonstrates the Indian konakol technique (vocal percussion). For PAL versions go to http://www.mediastarz.com.
I’m a guitar player—that’s what I am primarily, that’s what I’ll always be,” McLaughlin has been quoted as saying. “(And) I’m an eternal learner. I don’t want to stop learning because I feel that no matter what I’ve done; I’m really just beginning again. I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning.”
