Washington (DC), USA - BET J turns up the heat on "Island Lime" Saturdays with the highly-anticipated network premiere of Soca in the City, starring soca king Machel Montano on Saturday, June 9 at 1:00 p.m. ET/PT. The one-hour Caribbean music special will showcase Montano's electric performance at New York City's famed Madison Square Garden, and a special appearance by the charismatic, award-winning Trinidadian "masman" Peter Minshall; as well as behind-the-scenes footage of a special autograph signing at J & R Music and Computer World.
 
 The Soca in the City music special will air in rotation during BET J's unmatched "Island Lime" Saturdays which features a stellar lineup of Caribbean programming highlighting the best in West Indian music and culture. From carnival and festival highlights to the hottest music videos and lifestyle shows, BET J is the number one channel for multicultural programming! Viewers gain VIP access to some of the world's breathtaking and exotic locales while enjoying the latest in Caribbean entertainment.

The one-hour music special is one component of an overall partnership with Trinidad and Tobago's Ministry of Tourism. The partnership is a comprehensive multi-media platform which includes both on-air and online content of Trinidad and Tobago festivals and events, and promotional spots that not only showcase what Trinidad and Tobago has to offer, but also educates viewers about the "twin islands" unique and diverse culture.
