EventsLos Angeles (California), USA - Ghanaian Afro Roots ambassador, Rocky Dawuni is set to take the stage at The Roxy on Saturday, January 12th in a special Los Angeles concert performance on Saturday, January 12th - 9pm. Having blazed trails around the world throughout 2007 Dawuni will bring his Revelation Project band to Hollywood before heading back to Ghana for his annual concert festival celebrating his native country’s independence.

Dawuni is one of Africa’s most popular musicians and activists. Fans of his progressive fusion of Reggae, Afro Beat, traditional African sounds, and Hip Hop neo-griotism span the globe and tastemakers from KCRW to the BBC and Radio call his sound “infectious” and “classic.” His most recent CD release Book of Changes has spawned hits such as “Jammin Nation” and “Wake the Town” and many tracks have been licensed by smash series such as Showtime’s “Weeds” and “Dexter,” as well as NBC’s “ER”

2007 career highlights include:

· Rocky’s rendition of John Lennon’s “Well, Well, Well” was featured on the massively successful "Instant Karma: Amnesty International Campaign To Save Darfur" Deluxe Edition. The Warner Bros release also features Lennon covers by the Black Eyed Peas, U2, Christina Aguilera, Green Day, Ben Harper and Jack Johnson.

· "Wake the Town" was featured on video giant EA's FIFA 2008 video game which has been released world-wide to millions of consoles.

· A humanitarian tour of Ghana with Elle MacPherson as a spokesperson for (RED) and the Global Fund to announce the grant of 6.4 million dollars to provide HIV / AIDS treatment. (RED) was founded by U2 front man Bono and Bobby Shriver to harness the power of some of the world's most iconic brands in the fight against HIV / AIDS.

· A successful concert tour of Israel where he performed with Israeli star Mosh Ben Ari.

· An unprecedented 40,000 fans attended the annual “Rocky Dawuni’s Independence Splash” concert on March 6, 2007 for Ghana's Independence Day at La Pleasure Beach in Accra, Ghana.

· An extensive UNICEF trek throughout the northern part of Ghana to bring attention to clean water and sanitation. UNICEF released Rocky’s song “Clean Water” on World Water Day which has recently been translated into five Northern Ghanaian languages.
