Unnaddarè

Kalsa (Megasound, 2007)

From Sicily (Italy) comes Unnaddarè, a worldbeat band led by multi-instrumentalist Maurizio Catania. The group uses Sicilian lyrics, frame drums, ud, saz, sitar, a variety of global percussion, didjeridu, and groovy electronics.

Catania and his crew combine fascinating Middle Eastern melodies and rhythms with global electronica and captivating Sicilian vocals.

Unnaddarè is quite a pleasant discovery. If you are a fan of the TransGlobal Underground and Temple of Sound school of music, you should definitely check them out. Highly recommended.

Get the CD from Egean Music.
