The Vinayaka Chaturthi
08/27/2007 07:49PM

EventsIndia is a nation (among other things) of great festivals. A common factor among the myriad of festivals is lots of fun and bonhomie marked by religious fervour expressed by prayers and rituals. And again another guaranteed factor is rich classical music concerts and rich food called Prasadam. The Shri Subha Siddhi Vinayaka Mandhir Society (Regd.), of Mayur Vihar Delhi is now celebrating a 10 day festival of Vinayaka Chaturthi from the 7th Sep. to 18th Sep. 2007 at the temple premises (Main Road, Pocket – 1V, Phase One, Delhi 110091.)

The main Carnatic Music concerts are by two talented musicians from Delhi:

On the 9th Sep 2007 at 6:30 PM

Shakatapuram Srividya Peetam Asthana Vidushi Ganakala Vibhushan

Smt. Bhanumathy Vishwanath - Vocal
Shri KLN Shastry - Violin
Shri AS Ranganathan - Mridangam
Shri AS Krishnan - Morsing

On the 12th Sep 2007 at 6:30 PM

 Shri. R. Saravanan - Vocal
 Shri Arvind Bharati - Violin
Shri Delhi R Srinivasan - Mridangam

Smt. Bhanumathi Vishwanath symbolises the essence of Guru Kripa. Endowed with a mellifluous voice, sharp intelligence exudes a vibrant stage presence. She has been a child prodigy, and noticed in her broadcasting programmes as a child artist. With a quick succession of many scholarships and awards, she had also the privilege of learing under the doyen of classical music Padma Vibhushan Smt. DK Pattammal. In this ensuing concert she is being accompanied by talented and senior musicians like Shri KLN Shastry, Shri AS Ranganathan and Shri AS Krishnan.

The second concert is by young R Saravanan. Saravanan has been an indispensable musician in the Delhi circuit with his virtuoso in Violin. A gifted violinist he has been rendering a remarkable service by rendering violin support to many concerts both for vocal concerts and dance programmes. However his passion for music as a vocalist is now equally bearing fruit. He is being accompanied on the violin and mridangam by two young promising musicians – Mr Arvind Bharathi and Delhi R. Srinivasan, who have been taking to music as duck to water in spite of their other professional preoccupations.
