General NewsThe very best of Sri Lanka's culture will be on show in London on Saturday 15th December 2007 when 'We, Children of the Pearl' cultural extravaganza takes place.

Sri Lanka's music will be very much a central feature of 'We, Children of the Pearl.' This star studded show includes all aspects of Sri Lankan culture - a Veena performance by the students of Mrs Varathaluxmy Balachandran, Muslim songs by the Islamic Dawwa Centre and the Sri Lanka Islamic Forum, Malay songs and Innang Dance co-ordinated by Mrs Zounie Fallil, Gajaga and Ves Dance and the drums of Sri Lanka choreographed by Mrs Kamalanganie Perusinghe and the pulsating sounds of the Sigiri band are among the highlights of this Sri Lankan show in London.

The award winning Sri Lankan singer/songwriter Nimal Mendis who lives in the UK has written a special song for the event called 'Daughters Sons.' Sri Lankan musician Chris Dhason's song 'We are Sri Lankan' will also be played at the event.

'We, Children of the Pearl' is being hosted by Sri Lanka's diplomatic envoy to the Court of St. James, Her Excellency Kshenuka Senewiratne High Commissioner and the Sri Lanka High Commission in London.

The show will be directed by the distinguished Sri Lankan actor and director Gamini Abeysinghe.

Hundreds are expected at the Sri Lankan cultural show held in Central London.
